Some of My Puppetry Background
Q: Why do you write puppet scripts? What motivates you?
My husband is the Deacon over children's events for ages 2 through 12. He uses them for Children's Bible Hour on Sunday nights. It is just my way of helping him out.
Q: Tell us about your church or puppet organisation.
Children's Bible Hour runs from August through May each year. It is something fun for the kids and they are learning God's word in the process.
Q: How did you get started in puppets and what attracted you to this area?
I got started in puppets when my husband and I volunteered several years ago to help out.
Q: Where does your inspiration come from to write puppet scripts?
Whatever comes off the top of my head.
Q: What advice would you give to someone just starting out in puppetry?
Remember that kids' minds work differently from adults. Stay on their level, keep it simple, and be a little silly.
Q: Who are your favourite puppet characters and what do you like about them?
Daphne: Because she is always a great help.
Seymour: Because he always gets things really wrong.
Kid James: Because he is a big ole bible. |
Q: What are the most important qualities in great puppet scripts?
Lesson it teaches, teaching it in a fun way.
Q: What would you do if you were a puppet?
I don't know what I would do.
