Some of My Puppetry Background
Q: Why do you write puppet scripts? What motivates you?
Recreations of historical pieces with modern references.
Q: Tell us about your church or puppet organisation.
The Ducks in Motley are a group of individuals looking to enact medieval puppetry in modern times.
Q: How did you get started in puppets and what attracted you to this area?
I am a member of the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) and this is an area unexplored within the organization.
Q: Where does your inspiration come from to write puppet scripts?
History. It has tons of humor.
Q: What advice would you give to someone just starting out in puppetry?
Step on the backs of the giants that came before you. They have invented and re-invented the wheel.
Q: Who are your favourite puppet characters and what do you like about them?
My favorite are Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem (with Ralph the Dog on piano). This is because they were so relevant in their time. They matched the perfect 70's band.
Q: What are the most important qualities in great puppet scripts?
Engaging the audience and have them "buy in" to what ever you are doing. No matter that is it serious or silly they have to invest in what you are trying to portray.
Q: What would you do if you were a puppet?
Roam the earth. Oh man! Now I have to make a Pulp Fiction Sam Jackson puppet!
