Q: Why do you write puppet scripts? What motivates you?
I like to write puppet scripts that are fun, and have good biblical teaching. If i enjoy the script, i will have alot more fun presenting it, and the kids will hopefully enjoy it too, and take in some meaning from God's word to apply.
Q: Tell us about your church or puppet organisation.
I go to Warners Bay Baptist church in Newcastle and learned puppets during a discipleship training course at GLO. I occasionally use puppets for childrens sections and kids club.
Q: How did you get started in puppets and what attracted you to this area?
I learned puppets during a discipleship training course at GLO (a bible college). I realised how much fun they were, and that i could do it, and also how good a tool they were in childrens ministries.
Q: Where does your inspiration come from to write puppet scripts?
All sorts of weird places. The last one i wrote had a mix of ideas borrowed from forest gump, vegie tales, the muppets and the wiggles, basically from my strange sense of humour
Q: What advice would you give to someone just starting out in puppetry?
I'm only starting out myself.
Q: Who are your favourite puppet characters and what do you like about them?
I'm a big fan of Jim Henson and the work that he did on the muppets and sesame street. I always enjoyed them growing up, and now that i'm trying to use puppets i have a renewed appreciation for them as i watch them with my nephews and nieces.
Q: What are the most important qualities in great puppet scripts?
humour and making a point clearly.
Q: What would you do if you were a puppet?
Not answered yet.
