Q: Why do you write puppet scripts? What motivates you?
I teach children using the environment as a tool. Our programs are geared toward children in the 3rd grade and above. I needed something for the younger children--pre-k to 2nd grade and thought that puppets would be ideal.
Q: Tell us about your church or puppet organisation.
I manage an environmental education center for the Bureau of Land Management. We work with several partners and develop programs to help students learn their subject matter using the environment as a tool. I will be presenting my first puppet show on 3/4/05. It is about a goat named Geraldine and a Navajo Weaver named Glenmae. I am teaching the children about blanket weaving and the fact that it is a lost art.
Q: How did you get started in puppets and what attracted you to this area?
I am a big kid at heart and I think puppets are a wonderful way to teach children.
Q: Where does your inspiration come from to write puppet scripts?
The subject matters come from story books that have a wonderful message. I bring them to life through puppets.
Q: What advice would you give to someone just starting out in puppetry?
I am that someone so I am at this website for advice.
