| Q: Why do you write puppet scripts? What motivates you? |
| I like scripts with lots of action and good lines for every actor. I write puppet scripts so the puppeteers don't have to memorize or because the character needs to be a frog, or puppy, or fit inside a traveling stage. |
| Q: Tell us about your church or puppet organisation. |
| I mostly use puppets when an actor is too big. If I want a talking frog, a puppet is more realistic than a person in costume. The only real problem with puppets is getting them from one part of the stage to another, such as coming in the door and hopping on the table. However, sometimes I just let the puppeteer be seen and don't worry about it. |
| Q: How did you get started in puppets and what attracted you to this area? |
| Puppets are easy to start small with. |
| Q: Where does your inspiration come from to write puppet scripts? |
| People assume puppets are wonderful. Advertising a puppet show brings in the Moms and kids who wouldn't come to a play because they'd think the kids would be restless. Puppets are also good when you don't have a budget, stage, costumes or time to practice. If you have that stuff you should get some actors in there. |
| Q: What advice would you give to someone just starting out in puppetry? |
| Puppets make great narrators because the puppeteer can read from the script and prompt the actors. |
| Q: Who are your favourite puppet characters and what do you like about them? |
| Elmo - exuberance and curiousity. Kermit - nerd. Dog in Spoiled Baloney Man - so effusively fawning and gross. |
| Q: What are the most important qualities in great puppet scripts? |
| Good lines. Arguments or figuring out predicaments. Actions that puppets can do. |

| Nothing. Unless the blue fairy came along. |
