Heaven Needs Firemen

Description: This play takes a tough subject (September 11th)and puts it into a Christian context for the kids to understand. [Because the play involves the death of a parent, the ideal age group is kids age 5-9.]

Terrible message (Rated by: Anonymous) Posted January 15 2014

Rating: 1

God does not take fathers from children because He needs them more than they do. Where do you find this in scripture? God can take care of heaven all by himself and God takes care of us even when human evil brings devastating pain into this world. This script will only frighten and cause kids to be angry with and afraid of God.

I can't believe that a play exists like this: that puts its arms around all of the sufferers from the 9/11 attacks and gives them a big hug! It's just wonderful! Thank you and thank you so much. We too lost people on that day.

Regarding insensitive comments about this script (Rated by: An American) Posted January 19 2006

Rating: 10

Many children are still suffering from this attack. Children without a father or a mother. Children who are afraid. When people attack this script, which has helped so many children to recover and feel safe again, aren't they attacking the children? All over again?! Why?! Enough is enough!

Ok, When you die, your not going to be fighting fire! For one, God will take care of the fight with satan. Second, Heaven is up; hell is down. They aren't next to each other. Finally, you need to look into soap opera script writing because all the scripts that I have read by you were terrible. Get out of the business. peace.

God Caused 911? (Rated by: Jeannette Jaquish) Posted August 23 2004

Rating: 3

Religious people get really desperate and weird when they comfort kids about death. God wanted their daddy to die so he could fight hell's fire advancing on heaven? Where is that in the scriptures? Did God need all 3,000+ dead people or just the firemen? The terrorists believed they were serving God; according to this script, they were.

Nice, except for using Satan's words instead of God's (Rated by: swickape) Posted August 27 2003

Rating: 6

Very nice play, but I was very disappointed to see the quote from Isaiah was not from the KJV but from Satan's bible, the NIV. "MAN SHALL NOT LIVE BY BREAD ALONE, BUT BY *EVERY* WORD OF GOD" I encourage you to modify the script to avoid luring young children into the gaping maw of hell. Other than that, great job!

Markus, David, and SubrosaX, in the "rap" community there's a word for what you're doing: "player-hating." "HNF" has helped people! (See comments.) I know P2P is accused of voting up their own plays all the time but it's not true! If "HNF" is good enough for someone who lives near Ground Zero, then it should be good enough for all of us! Peace out!
what's wrong with the Bible game? (Rated by: Maria) Posted March 16 2003

This is a beautiful play! I can't believe some kook (you know who you are) would compare the "Bible game" to a ouija board! My kids play that game! Not only do I resent that comment, but I will be recommending this fine play to our youth pastor!

"Bible is not a weegie (sp) board (Rated by: David Marriott) Posted February 27 2003

Rating: 5

I like the idea of honoring those who so bravely fought the flames for our country. I don't like the idea that heaven needs firement, because it doesn't. I also don't like the Bible game. The Bible is not a "weegie (sp) board" for us to point our finger to a verse and then get a special message.

You have a good concept, but the ending should be a little more accurate. I think the firemen are going to be worshipping God instead of fighting a fire!
No Heading (Rated by: Call Me Ishmael) Posted November 27 2002

Interesting premise, but if taken to it's logical extreme, it may prompt kids to wonder if heaven needs bond traders, janitors and God knows what else. Though clearly a sentimental favorite, I think this play is theologically shaky.

Does Heaven need protecting? (Rated by: Markus Wolf) Posted November 13 2002

Rating: 5

While saying God needs firemen in heaven is cute on the surface, it implies that heaven needs protecting. God needs firemen on earth where we wage for the souls of lost men. Better to express the safety of heaven and the great hope we have, while recruiting more firemen for this side of eternity.

Wrong Message to Kids (Rated by: subrosax) Posted October 29 2002

Rating: 5

If the FDNY couldn't save the WTC, how are they supposed to protect heaven from the all-consuming fires of hell? I think this play makes God look incompetent at best and at worst, lazy. If God can't handle the simple task of keeping the flames of perdition out of His kingdom, how are we supposed to rely on Him to handle the big stuff?
