I would be careful, though of not discouraging kids to learn to pray scripture. When we get God's word on our minds and in our personal prayer, it transforms our minds and lives.

When teaching our kids it is VERY important that we teach them to pray the way JESUS taught us to pray. OUR FATHER. We are to pray to the FATHER in Jesus name. We need to equip our kids with everything we possibly can and the formula for prayer in Matthew 6:9-13 is still the same.
