Waste of time (Rated by: Sarah) Posted December 28 2011

Why lie and entice other people to waste their time reading this? There is no redeeming value and it should definitely not be performed in church or any place else.

my friend and i may do this one in church

More of a testimony than a script. Would be very difficult to stage. Could possibly be adapted as a monologue, live action, for adult audiences.
not a kid script!! (Rated by: Anonymous) Posted January 19 2006

Rating: 5

wouldn't call this existentialism (not sure who would seek that viewpoint for a Christian setting anyway), it's just odd and inaccessible. you might pull it off for adults, but many professional actresses couldn't even handle this monologue and keep it interesting. it's very unlikely you'd find that caliber of talent within a volunteer group.
Not your typical puppet script (Rated by: Anonymous) Posted November 16 2005

Rating: 5

There is some interesting writing here, but I can't imagine this actually being performed as a puppet script. At least not to children.

Love em all. All the Grammas.

Actually I don't see where this is appropriate for 3 to 9 yr olds at all. Too long a single dialoge, the kis would be gone in the 4th sentance, and content not suitable. I am worried
performing gramma (Rated by: Wince Moore) Posted April 29 2004

Rating: 7

There is something familiar about the 2nd half of this. One of our parishioners performed the part of the Granny flawlessly, right down to how her puppet tilted the Ensure. Our munchkins got a restless, but the adults loved it! I see this is the abridged version. Any way to access the unexpurgated script for our puppet-a-thon in June?
Still Fresh (Rated by: Nick Lachey) Posted January 17 2004

This is a timeless classic. When can we expect to hear a little more from Gramma (like we haven't heard enough already!)
Interesting, but I wouldn't use it (Rated by: Dottie) Posted January 3 2004

Rating: 2

This is not appropriate for the 3-9 age group, and it is unnecessarily offensive. Also, it seemed like she lived at least two different lives, the Mormon one and then the abusive childhood one. The idea of Grandma talking from the nursing home in a stream-of-consciousness style to an older age group is a good one, but this needs work.
R U Serious? (Rated by: Michael Hutton) Posted December 19 2003

Rating: 1

Do you really think 3-9 year olds know what an ensure TM is, or get it. Will they sit still for the extended monologue - will an adult?? I don't like the disrespect for the elderly that is shown in this script, let alone its dubious messages.
No Heading (Rated by: Anonymous) Posted November 20 2003

It has some good points but is *totally* unsuitable for children of three to nine!!!
Horrible (sorry) (Rated by: An Elderly Man) Posted August 17 2003

Rating: 1

This script is the most cruely mean thing I've read and is insulting to old people. (get me my ensure) and the smell of a dead person at the end. I can't believe it is considered a puppet script. Maybe a spam email, but this could never be performed. Is this a JOKE? If it is, it is a sick one.
Is this serious? (Rated by: Michael) Posted August 15 2003

Rating: 1

Pages of diatribe suggest to me that this is not seriously meant to be performed. The way you follow comments on the existence of God with bowel movements is offensive. I almost suspect that you actually intend to portray Christianity as archaic, irrelevant, boring and crippled.

This is always fresh. Hello, gramma. Welcome back. Hope you stick around and give us another 45 minutes of your rambling.

That one was a little long. I fell asleep reading it.
What? (Rated by: Dave Marriott) Posted April 21 2003

Rating: 2

1.That was really long. 2.Is that a script or a stream of consciousness essay on the finer points of righteous living and Biblical exposition? 3. Should we teach three year olds about the dangers of drugs and porno films? Maybe not an appropriate skit. I agree with the others.
Wonderful writing (Rated by: Pam) Posted April 21 2003

I think it's really well written, but not appropriate for the age range suggested.

Beautifully written (Rated by: William James) Posted March 13 2003

Although this is not a very useable puppet script, I found it very moving. It certainly did remind me of James Joyce! I am going to find a way share this with my congregation, one way or another. It might be the perfect thing for St. Patricks day!

Only for Mature Audiences (Rated by: Anonymous) Posted March 4 2003

Rating: 3

The skit covers a lot of interesting topics, and the message of the hope and freedom that Jesus brings needs to be told. But some of the issues mentioned (drinking, drugs, abuse, porno films) are innappropriate for kids 3-9 years. The part about abuse would scare them. That's a long time for a puppeteer's arm to be up, even if she had an arm rest.
That Gramma! She sure can talk and talk and talk. (Rated by: Pierre LaFrance) Posted December 17 2002

I'd do this play if I had a year. Anyone have a puppet teleprompter?
Why not? (Rated by: Van Shenkenberger) Posted December 7 2002

Granny sure can gab but that's so true. Yammer, yammer, yammer. Beautiful message about our Lord.

Sooner or later, children will learn that life is very often a series of disappointments and unfulfilled dreams, punctuated by brief moments of empty pleasure. This play lessens the blow. Thanks P2P.
perplexing can be good (Rated by: Bianca Samuels) Posted November 17 2002

While I normally wouldn't spend so much time reading but to my 6 children, I was scooped into this epic and was unable to pull myself away. It has made me decide to go back to my original plan of life as being a writer. I'm thankful, and God bless p2p!
do it for the children (Rated by: Daisy Aquinas) Posted October 30 2002

Rating: 10

This play freaked me out a little bit but only because I am obsessed with aging and death. If small children saw this play it might help them to avoid the 3:00am existential panic attacks that have plagued me for many a year.

I saw something very similar to this on the Lifetime channel, which is television for women. I think this would be good to try out at a battered women's shelter or an AA meeting or something.

...The implacable narrative of Gramma reminds me of the heroic but misunderstood Travis Bickle. A Magnum Opus that leaves me sated.
A Tour De Force (Rated by: Gene Jenet) Posted July 16 2002

The comparison to Being and Nothingness cannot be ignored, but were Sartre is at times unable to come to terms with his ideas, and is too concise, I find none of thies problems with Gramma.

Nursing Home! (Rated by: Richard) Posted June 3 2002

Rating: 10

This play reminds me of when we put my mother in a nursing home! She would talk and talk like a crazy woman, whether anyone was listening or not! This play, while rambling, is very realistic. If kids can get through the first few minutes, I think they'll learn about aging.
3 - 9 yrs old? (Rated by: Anonymous) Posted June 3 2002

Interesting work and some good writing, but 45 - 60 minutes of Granny's stream of consciousness to kids 3 - 9 years old?
