Helping Out

Description: Toby wants his mum to read him a story but she is too busy. He then figures out that his mum will have more time if he helps her and so he does! Could easily be modified into a Mother's Day skit.

overall good idea for the story, but the boys motive is so selfish... It would have been nice for him to realize that mum works hard and his help would make HER life better, and if mama is happy...

I am so happy I found your site. As a co-director/trainer for the newly founded RAPT (Rogersville Arts Puppet Troupe), my partner and I have been searching for good skits. We are ecstatic that you offer them free of charge. Hopefully one day we can add to your library. Thank you so much!!!

I like the simplicity of the story, and I know my group of children will like the fact that things get thrown into the audience!

I liked the premise except that it was English wording with biscuits not cookies and mum not mom but cute idea. I am going to use it for a puppet skit in church. Thank you.

The child seemed very demanding, but the mother should have made the time for her child. I agree with the last reader.

I am not sure what the author tried to accomplish with this plot.children should not have to work to get their parents to read a story to them - it is their right.something about the story does not feel like wise parenting.sorry, but it sucks...

Fun, I can picture "Mum" in a '50's style dress... Maybe add throwing socks in air while cleaning the bedroom...

Maybe not realistic for the US (Rated by: Dave Marriott) Posted May 6 2003

,but with a little language changing, this would be a solid script for any puppet team. Another good one, Jeff.

Not very realistic! Mom would not just keep on and on about all the things she has to do. She would probably just say NO, not now. Later No, I don't have time! Later! ETC....

A great way to convince young kids that the first place to help is around the house - their Mom!!

My daughter used this script in her elementary school's fair. It was well received and we heard comments like, "good story," "we liked it" "good idea." Thank you for having these kinds of resources available.
