Some of My Puppetry Background
Q: Why do you write puppet scripts? What motivates you?
I regularly write puppet skits for our two church puppets, Levi and Tyson. We use them during the kids time -- a part of the family service.
Q: Tell us about your church or puppet organisation.
Not answered yet.
Q: How did you get started in puppets and what attracted you to this area?
I have to write kids talks almost every week for church. Using puppets is a way to get other people involved and it makes a good change for the kids -- they don't have to listen to me!
Q: Where does your inspiration come from to write puppet scripts?
I have a bible passage that I need to teach, and I use this website to get my mind going. I often steal a joke or an opening from someone else, then use it in my own script.
Q: What advice would you give to someone just starting out in puppetry?
Work really hard on your scripts, particularly the 'seam' from the opening [funny] bit to the serious stuff. And make sure you've actually got something solid to say.
Q: Who are your favourite puppet characters and what do you like about them?
Ernie and Bert on seasame street.
Q: What are the most important qualities in great puppet scripts?
a good message well communicated and interesting puppet characters
Q: What would you do if you were a puppet?
Sing a soppy song.
