Some of My Puppetry Background |
Q: Why do you write puppet scripts? What motivates you? |
I have loved puppets since I watch the Muppet show as a little girl. The muppet movies,Dark Crystal and Farscape continue to amaze me with the level of technical skill and creativity it takes to master puppeteering. I will never claim to be anything more than a vessel by which God can teach the kids puppets, about each other and about themselves. |
Q: Tell us about your church or puppet organisation. |
We were the Calvery Baptist Church of Norwalk's puppet team. Our team verse is Matthew 28: 19-20. |
Q: How did you get started in puppets and what attracted you to this area? |
I started as a junior volunteer at a hospital. The puppet program was for children who were going to have surgery to help calm their fears and give them basic info. |
Q: Where does your inspiration come from to write puppet scripts? |
Usually need but on occasion I am inspired by my creative friends, poetry and the Bible. |
Q: What advice would you give to someone just starting out in puppetry? |
Have fun. Don't worry about making mistakes. Use what you have and learn all you can. |
Q: Who are your favourite puppet characters and what do you like about them? |
Anything by David Simpich. If you haven't seen one of his plays....well your just missing out. |
Q: What are the most important qualities in great puppet scripts? |
Consistancy and Comedy. |
Q: What would you do if you were a puppet? |
Visit any place that would have me. Nursing homes, schools, libraries and fairs. |
