In this skit, Ted is talking to himself. The narrator (s) is watching Ted and speaking to the kids. At various points in the skit, the kids yell out “Keep it up, Ted”. Ted hears what the kids yell out as a faint voice in his head. When we performed this (part of a series of Ted skits, each looking at passages in 1 Thessalonians), we used two people. I think it would work equally well with Ted as a puppet. This script is based on the idea of 1 Thessalonians 4:10 – The thessalonians were doing well at loving each other, but Paul urges them to “Keep it up.” Look out for other Ted skits, by Simone Richardson or Michael Hutton. S: goes. T: S: T: S: T: S: T: S: T: S: T: S: T: so well and … Keep it up, Ted! Ted’s mum’s going out for the day. Ted really loves his mum. Ted’s mum’s left some jobs for Ted to do while she’s gone. Because Ted loves his mum it’s important that he does all the jobs properly and doesn’t give up. Let’s watch him and see how he [Large piece of paper saying “Ted’s Jobs – 1. Washing up. 2. Make the bed. 3. Do your homework.] Mum’s gone now. I have ot do those jobs she left for me. What were they? Ah. First job. Wash the dishes. Ok. Water in the sink… Taps on… Wash the dirty dishes, wash the dirty dishes, rub and scrub and rub and scrub and make them nice and clean… Ted’s doing well isn’t he. He’s washing the dishes like his mum wanted him to. But what’s this? He’s stopping. Yawn! Feeling a bit tired. Perhaps I’ll just.. Oh no! Ted’s thinking about giving up! We need to encourage him to Keep up his good work. After 3, let’s say “Keep it up, Ted!” Ready? 1-2-3. KEEP IT UP, TED! What was that? 1-2-3 KEEP IT UP, TED! Keep it up? I was doing some good work, washing the dishes. I mustn’t give up now. I have to keep going till I’ve finished. Wash the dirty dishes… Oh good. And look. Now he’s done all the dishes. He should give himself a big tick on the chart. What’s next, now? Number 2. Make the bed. That’s easy. I’ll just pull up the blanket and ….[yawn] maybe No Ted, no! He has to keep going. Are you ready? 1-2-3 KEEP IT UP, TED! Keep it up? Oh.. I can have a rest when my work is done. But now I have to keep going. Make the messy bed, make the messy bed, tuck it in and tuck it in and make it nice and neat… Great work Ted. Only one thing to go now. Another tick. Number 3. Homework. Should I do my homework? I’ve been doing Ted has been doing well, but he needs to keep it up. Ready… 1-2-3 KEEP IT UP, TED! S: T: Keep it up? But it’s hard and I want to have a rest. S: Even though Ted’s feeling tired, he has to keep going. He loves his mum and she’ll be so pleased if she comes home and all the jobs are done. Should we say it again? 1-2-3 KEEP IT UP, TED! T: S: Ted’s mum left him some jobs to do. Ted wanted to do the jobs because he loved his mum. We love God. God’s given us a job. Loving eachother. We have to keep it up, keep on loving eachother all the time. Do you ever do anything kind and loving to someone else? Maybe you share things with your brother or sister or friends. That’s good. God likes that. You need to keep it up. Keep on loving eachother. Keep it up? Okay then. Do my homework, do my homework… All done. And now I get a big tick! Well done Ted. He kept at it until he finished all his work. Do you think his mum will be pleased?
