Some of My Puppetry Background
Q: Why do you write puppet scripts? What motivates you?
I do it for the kids of Anaktuvuk Pass in Alaska. Kingdom Air Corps trains pilots and mechanics to enter the mission field by providing mountain flight training and running a Bible Camp north of the Arctic Circle. I am one of its trainees. We fly a small fleet to the north where we pick up kids from several villages and bring them to camp. I have a background in puppet ministry so I started a team. It has been an effective tool at reaching the younger kids with the Gospel of Christ.
Q: Tell us about your church or puppet organisation.
Cornerstone Bible Church of Fort Ann, NY started a traveling puppet team that I was a member of. We worked hard for 4 years until most of us graduated high school and interest could not be maintained.
Q: How did you get started in puppets and what attracted you to this area?
My home Church started a team that I was a part of for 4 years. The team has since dissolved but I carry on puppeteering and skit-writing in Alaska. I am the head puppeteer for Kingdom Air Corps
Q: Where does your inspiration come from to write puppet scripts?
Passages of Scripture
Q: What advice would you give to someone just starting out in puppetry?
Arm up! Look down! Talk slow! Be silly!
Q: Who are your favourite puppet characters and what do you like about them?
Gonzo. What's not to like about Gonzo?
Q: What are the most important qualities in great puppet scripts?
The Word of God being presented in a HUMOROUS way. The kids MUST be wildly entertained so they will be attentive to the message.
Q: What would you do if you were a puppet?
The same thing I'm doing now... only it would be a lot more difficult at less than 20 inches tall and without legs.
