Some of My Puppetry Background
Q: Why do you write puppet scripts? What motivates you?
What motivates me is the smiles and the responses I get from the kids. So many times they are underestimated. But all I can say is the kids are never too young to understand truth.
Q: Tell us about your church or puppet organisation.
The church I attend allows me the freedom to perform for the kids during Children's Church, and I meet the challenge by writing a new skit each and every week to correspond to their lesson. I use the puppet/teacher format. It works well for those who have limited puppeteers.
Q: How did you get started in puppets and what attracted you to this area?
I got started doing puppetry in a backyard ministry, and eventually I got caught in its net.
Q: Where does your inspiration come from to write puppet scripts?
My inspiration comes from God's Word, and my encouragement comes from "YOU".
Q: What advice would you give to someone just starting out in puppetry?
My advice to all the young apprentices out there, is to be funny; be dedicated; be consistent; and have a passion for what you're doing.
Q: Who are your favourite puppet characters and what do you like about them?
I always loved the "cookie monster", and that's probably because of my love for Chocolate Chip and Raisin Cookies.
Q: What are the most important qualities in great puppet scripts?
The most important qualities in great puppet skits is keeping it simple, funny, and not overly complicated or lengthy.
Q: What would you do if you were a puppet?
If I were a puppet I wouldn't work. I would retire to "fun and play".
